KORT Award

Kaneland Harter Middle School’s KORT Award is a merit based recognition given to students who distinguish themselves in service to their community.

The Knights of the Round Table (KORT) distinction is achieved by earning a total of 30 hours, devoted to at least two separate service activities, over the course of a student’s KHMS career. The award, a four-by-four KORT shield patch of athletic construction, can be sewn onto clothing or displayed and is given to students after attaining the hours required. This shield signifies the student as a member of a dedicated group that chooses to devote a significant portion of their time to helping others. Students accumulating more than 30 hours will be recognized with additional pins based on their level of service. Additional pins that can be adorned on the shield will be given for 50, 75, or 100+ hours of service.

These hours may be performed in conjunction with church, scouts, or other organized projects. However, any hours used to satisfy requirements for badges or other programs may not be counted. All hours must be entered and verified in order to count toward the award by May 10 of the student’s 8th grade year.

In order for service hours to be recognized, students must keep track of their time themselves for each activity and provide the necessary information in an app called MobileServe. The MobileServe App is free for students to use and will track their hours throughout their HMS career.  Students may sign-up on the app by using their Kaneland school email address. If parents prefer to have the app on their personal device, that is fine, but the student’s Kaneland email address is required.  Anyone signing up with an alternate email will be deleted.

When signing-up for the app, students must use the coordinating code for their HS graduating class year. See the steps below to sign-up a Harter Middle School Student:
